Interested in wine pairing? This post is for you!
Our wine of the month, Pinot Nior.
Wine is easy to categorize, there is Red and there is White. But when it comes down to it there is so much more to know! Did you know that wines are named after the kind of grape used to make them? Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and Sauvignon Blanc are all types of grapes. There are so many varieties and we want to tell you about just one and what you can expect when you buy a bottle.
Pinot Noiris a red grape grown in cooler regions around the world. It grows in Burgundy in France, as well as Oregon, California, Australia, and South Africa. The Pinot Noir grape is also used to make the sparkling wines in Champagne, France!
Pinot Noir wines are generally very refined and elegant. Very often they have a slightly exotic taste, with notes of ripe red fruit, cherry, chocolate, spices, and interestingly toast. They can range from easy to drink and fruity to medium bodied with complex fruit flavors.
Pinot Noir is a great wine to have with a meal. Since it is one of the lighter varieties of Red wine it pairs well with lots of dishes. Try a Pinot Noir with:
● Pork, Grilled or roasted
● Salmon, Shark or heavier fish
● Duck and other game birds
● Shrimp or Lobster
● Mushrooms
● Pasta with Pesto
Pinot Noir is not a stuffy wine, it is fun and sexy, sensual and delicious so most importantly try lots of different Pinot Noirs and find your favorite! Cupcake, Barefoot and Clarksville, TN local Beachaven are a few of our favorites!
